THE DTI INCUBATION SUPPORT PROGRAMME (ISP)

Programme Description

Funding for the establishment of Business Incubators is available as a cost sharing grant of up to R10 million (vat inclusive) per financial year over a 3 year period. The funds will be issued in the following ratios depending on the size of  the organisation:
50:50 cost sharing basis for large organisations
40:60 cost sharing with SMMEs
 

Target Market

Corporate Incubators
Private investor’s Incubators
Academic or Research Institution Incubators in partnership with industry
Licensed and/or registered science council
 

Application Conditions

The first payment is subject to confirmation that the incubator has an advisory board in place and that the private sector partner has made a contribution to the financial requirements of the incubator in line with its business plan.
Funding for years subsequent to year 1 depends on measured rate of success against known set targets
The incubator candidates have to graduate after 2 to 3 years to a level of self sustainability
