for Industrial Innovation (SPII) - Matching Scheme

Programme Description
SPII Matching Scheme is a non-taxable non-repayable grant of between 50% and 75% of qualifying costs incurred in pre-competitive development activity associated with a specific development project up to a maximum grant amount of R5 million Rand.
Contributions vary according to BEE Ownership as follows:
· For enterprises with 25% BEE shareholding, the grant is 50% of qualifying costs;
· For enterprises with more than 25% but equal to 50% BEE shareholding, the grant is 65% of qualifying costs;
· For more than 50% shareholding by women or people with disabilities, the grant is 65% of qualifying costs; and
· For enterprises with BEE shareholding of more than 50%, the grant is 75% of qualifying costs.
Financial assistance under the Matching Scheme is also provided to large companies on a 50% matching basis
The incentives for BEE, women and people with disabilities provided under both the PPD and Matching Schemes do not apply to large companies

Registered Organisations that are B-BBEE Compliant
Application Process
Intellectual Property Rights developed as a result of this scheme must reside in a South African registered company for from the initiation of development activity until 3 years after the completion of the project.
The product must comply with relevant National And International Standards
The product/processes must not be for a single client
Those projects where some of the technology is licensed from a third party and the license agreements restrict the commercial application do not qualify for this scheme.
Projects that are more than 50% complete at the time of the application do not qualify (Exception may be made for applicants with total assets less than R5 million).

i. Microvision Software CC is a software service company that developed MASTER –C Reloaded, which is a school management and administration system with a variety of features that assist educators and facilitate information communication with the Department of Education.
ii. CURA Management Software (Pty) Ltd developed a software system that enables businesses to achieve bottom line benefits of risk management, compliance and performance management. This system is now used worldwide.
iii. Fraxion (Pty) Ltd developed the Fraxion Spend Management System which is a software system that manages, controls and analyses spending activities and cash flow in real time for organisations,
