Programme Description
This is an entrepreneurship competition where the winner enters a business skills training, business development support and mentorship programme that runs over a minimum period of 6 months. Grants are also awarded.
Target Market
SMEs that are at least 50% Black youth owned.
Application Process
Applications can be submitted online or by fetching, completing and submitting the application forms through the SAB Regional Offices
Application Conditions
Campaigns for the competition are held every year between May and June
Applicants must agree to have the progress of their business tracked for a period of 5 years
The winners of the programme are required to run and manage their business on a full-time basis and must be able to manage their time in order to attend the full time training offered.
Success Stories
Overall KickStart competition winners: 2013
i. Anda Maqanda of AM Group won R500 000.00 as well as a learning routes trip to Beijing, China worth R100 000.00.
ii. Lyle Truter of TruPVC won R250 000 as well as a learning routes trip to Utah, United States of America, valued at R100 000.00.
iii. Ricardo Styles of SIH Training won R150 000, as well as a learning routes trip to Tokyo, Japan valued at R100 000.00.
People’s Choice Awards; As voted for by the Public, via Facebook,
i. Anda Maqanda of AM Group won an IPAD Mini.
As voted for by SAB Employees through Yammer,
i. Luyanda Ngwenya of ICU Eye Care won an IPAD Mini.
An additional award, courtesy of the SAB Foundation was awarded to 3 of the finalists, they were all awarded R100 000.00

ii. Eric Sihle Zuma of Pork Masters
iii. Obed Montwedi of Reiketlile Bakery and Confectionery.
