Programme: Phakamani Foundation

Organisation: Old Mutual Masisizane in partnership with Phakamani Foundation

Programme Description

First time loans of between R700 to R1700 are available. After a track record has been established, amounts can increase to R15 000. The repaid funds are recycled and used to fund the next batch of women. The beneficiaries have to be in groups of five

Success Stories


 i.            Christina Mafuwane received help from Phakamani, and has been able to expand her vegetable selling business. She is also now able to save about R1000 per month.


 ii.            Constance Chiloane received both funding and training from Phakamani, and she is now able to run her business more effectively.


iii.            Sesnet Gumede was able to resuscitate her business after losing her wares through a robbery. She has since used the funds she received from Phakamani to enhance security at her current shop to deter thieves.
