Programme: Massmart Supplier Development Fund

Programme Description

The fund offers non recoverable grants, recoverable commercial loan guarantees and non recoverable technical support to the participants. 
 

Target Market

SMMEs involved in either manufacturing or farming activities.
 

Application Process

Applicants must contact the Fund Managers via the Massmart website or make a direct telephone enquiry. Contact sheets will be given to the applicants and should be returned once completed. Applicants must note that the application period is from January to August each year
 

Success Stories

  1. The Ezemvelo Direct Farm Programme, that has managed to train 164 farmers (of which 60 are female), that are linked to Massmart’s food supply chain, with a total of 514tons supplied to Massmart by smallholder farmers in 2012.
  2. Centurion based XChem Chemicals, owned by Angela Chris Pitsi increased production capacity using funds received from the Supplier Development Programme.
  3. Bio Lotion Cosmetics, founded by Vundade Silora received assistance from the Massmart Supplier Development Fund, and has managed to increase its footprint within the Massmart stores.
  4. 71 year old retired nurse Jamela Mogodi from Julesburg, Limpopo, who has access to 28 hectares of land, received an interest free loan which she used to buy inputs. She also received mentorship and on farm technical support. She has managed to widen the range of products that she farms and is productively utilising more land, and has a bigger customer base.
