Programme: iMbewu Fund – Procurement Finance

Organisation: National Empowerment Fund


Type of Support

·         Funding;

·         Training; and

·         Mentorship.


Programme Description

Procurement Finance- for small businesses that have been awarded tenders / contracts by public or private entities

Funding instruments include term loans, bridging finance asset finance, revolving facilities and debt finance.

The funding is capped at R10 million. Mentorship is given where gaps are identified.


Target Market

Small businesses with at least 50.1% black ownership. There must be active participation by black individuals in the operations of the business

Success Stories

i.            The Middledrift Community formed the Gwelindaba Trust, to work in partnership with The NEF and Amadlelo Agri (Pty) Ltd to establish Middledrift Dairy which is a commercial dairy farm. This has brought positive change to the lives of the people in the Middledrift community. With R9 920 000 funding  from the NEF as well as additional funding from Amadlelo Agri, The money was used as start-up capital, and all the milk produced is sold to Clover.
