Programme Description

Loans that cover up to 30 to 40% of total project costs with the total loan not exceeding R15 million are available in this programme.
 

Target Market

Property Development Businesses that are owned by historically disadvantaged individuals
 

Application Conditions

Participants must look out for the public tender issued annually and only a few participants are taken at a time.
The projects that are undertaken must target to provide rental accommodation or delayed ownership schemes to households with a monthly income of less than R15 000.
The GPF requires at least 2% of the total project cost as owners’ equity contribution.
 

Application Process

Applicants must include a detailed business plan with their applications. They must also give a thorough description of the project, including project concept and overview. 
 

Success Stories

  1. The Montrose Mansions- Sponsored by Maseleng Investments (Pty) Ltd is a project located at the corner of Von Wielligh and Jeppe Street in the Johannesburg CBD. Here, commercial office space was acquired and converted to rental housing units. The project comprises of a twelve story building that accommodates 10 floors to 120 one bedroom units with 1st floor office and ground floor retail shops totalling 1382m².
  2. Rooderpoort- Sponsored by Johannesburg Social Housing Company. This project is located within the Roodepoort CBD adjacent to the taxi rank and within walking distance from the retail sector in the CBD. It consists of 432 two storey walk-up units. The project has a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom type of units.
  3. The Italic Mansions- Sponsored by Shamzang Property Investment Holdings. The project is located on 36 Plein Street in the Johannesburg CBD. The projects involve the acquisition and converting of 123 communal rooms into 64 self contained one bedroom flats.
