Type of Support
· Skills training and development
Programme Description
Skills training and development in areas such as cooking, baking, sewing, curio making, flower arranging, beadwork, hair care and basic finance management are offered to the women.
Target Market
Women. Candidates must have been operating a facility that benefits their community for at least 5 years. (For example, day care centres shelters or a soup kitchen).
The woman must have ownership of the premises from which she operates and should be prepared to train others once she herself has been trained.
Application Process
Interested individuals should contact either of the individuals below.
Success Stories
i. Mama Albertina Bloko (age 54), lives in Alexandria, in the Eastern Cape and runs an orphanage. She was trained under the programme and has managed to impart her skills to over 60 people and currently has 4 employees. She runs Tyilulwazi Centre for the Disabled.
ii. Mama Dora S, (age 58) from Seshego in Polokwane currently employs 14 people and has transferred her skills to over 40 individuals. She runs Shalati Drop in Center.
iii. Mama Rosie (age 52) from Khayelitsha, Western Cape, has imparted her skills to 10 people and employs 11 individuals. She runs Baphumelele Children’s Home.
